Seamstress Wantedfor 19th Century (1800s) Clothing |
Page Last Updated: Friday, 15-Mar-2024 13:35:18 MST |
We have needs in the following areas. Seamstresses for Piece WorkWe are looking for seamstresses to make the items that we manufacturer. They do not need to be local and in fact our current seamstresses are located in different parts of the country. The items we make require different levels of skill and include ladies and girls underpinnings (over and under hoop slips, bloomers, chemises, camisoles, etc.) and dresses; boy's shirts, trousers and jackets; men's shirts, sleeve protectors and drawers, possibly other items up to fancy formal dresses. Most of the items, except dresses, only require a moderate level of skill. Some of the dresses we make do require advanced seamstress skills. We use patterns by Past Patterns, Laughing Moon Mercantile, Patterns of History and Harriet's. These patterns use period construction (piping, boning and lining, etc.) and sometimes require skills that go beyond the experience of seamstresses that have only made modern items. Because of this we have a "Seamstress Application" to help us determine a seamstress's level of skill and experience. Our items are mostly made on order. When we get an order we send the information about the item(s) ordered to one, or more, of our contract seamstresses to be made. That seamstress makes the item(s) and drop ships the order to the customer. We pay for the item based on a set price, that is set by our head seamstress and myself. If you are interested in doing piece work sewing for us, please print out the "Seamstress Application" and return it to us. Makers of 19th Century (1800s) ItemsWe are also looking for additional suppliers of 19th Century (1800s) items. If you are a maker of quality reproduction 19th Century (1800s) items, or know of someone who is, and are interest in another outlet for their/your products, please email webmaster@ushist.com with a description of what you have and wholesale prices. |
