Wide Double Buckle Belt, Black

Civilian belts come in a variety of Widths and Colors. Buckles also vary in size, style and color / material. We will be adding the information for these belts over the next few days.

Standard Single Buckle Belt: This belt comes in widths of 1 1/2" through 2 1/4" depending on the buckle chosen. They can be made with Horseshoe, Roller or Flat Buckles.

Wide Double Buckle Belt: This is a wider belt and uses a double buckle system for closing. As shown it is 2 1/2" wide (also available in 2 1/4") with two brass horseshoe buckles in natural un-dyed leather. This belt has five (5) inches of adjustment, plus or minus two (2) inches from the size ordered (IE: a 30 inch belt adjusts from 28 inches to 32 inches). This is the belt featured in the October 2005 Lucky Magazine.

Order Info: Order by length / measurement OVER the clothing the belt will be worn with. Use a cloth tape measure and take the measurement over any clothing that the belt will be worn over. I.E. the belt size for these belts is the actual length of the belt from the buckle to the center hole AND IS NOT adjusted for any clothing it will be worn over.

Buffalo Hunters Cartridge Belt for 45 Caliber Rifle Cartridges

This Cartridge Belt is made from canvas webbing with 45 caliber rifle cartridge (45/70, 45/90, 45/110, etc.) or 50 caliber rifle (50/70, 50/90, 50/110, etc.) canvas webbing loops sewn on. It has a russet billet with a rectangle buckle attached. On the other end there is a billet with holes for the buckle. There are leather caps on each end to keep the canvas belt webbing from fraying.

There are 36 to 40 loops on the belt in the 45 caliber version depending on the size of the belt.

This is the Officer's dress sabre belt made from black enameled leather, currently called patent leather. It includes 2 sabre hangers which can be removed, so that the belt can be worn as a dress waist belt. The buckle for this belt is the standard officers rectangular buckle that has been gold washed or gold plated.

This item was used by both Union and Confederate foot troops (Infantry, Artillery, etc.) Waist belts for U.S. troops were black leather. Some Confederate troops had black leather belts, while others had them in russet leather.

    It is available as:
       Belt ONLY,
       Belt with Brass Keeper but NO BUCKLE,
       Belt with Buckle but NO brass Keeper
       or Belt with Buckle and Keeper.

The belt plates (buckles) are also available separately. There are U.S. and C.S. stamped brass and lead filled, as well as some solid brass belt plates (buckles). These belt plates (buckles) have two prongs at one end and one prong at the other end. They are not made to work on modern belt blanks.

NOTE: DO NOT order a belt buckle for Sabre & NCO/Officer Waist Belts for this belt, ONLY belt plates (which are in fact belt buckles) will work with this belt. If you want a waist belt with a Belt Buckle you need to order the "Waist Belt for Foot NCO's, Navy and Officers".

This item was used by both Union and Confederate Foot NCO's, such as Infantry NCO's. It can also be used by Navy Seaman and Officers and Army Officers wanting a waist belt and not a sabre belt. This belt comes with an adjusting hook on one end, the same as on the saber belts. NCO belts for U.S. troops were black leather. Some Confederate troops had black leather belts, while others had them in russet leather.

This belt is also available with the Officer's Decorative/Fancy Stitching.

Optional buckles include the M1851 U.S. Rectangular Buckle with Silver Wreath for U.S. NCO's or a choice of Confederate buckles for Confederate NCO's. If the buckle you want is not listed in the drop-down window, choose "OTHER BUCKLE" and then after adding the belt to your cart add the buckle you want to the cart. BE SURE to specify which buckle to use with this belt in the notes field if you purchase more than 1 buckle.

This item was used by both Union and Confederate Mounted troops (Cavalry and Mounted Artillery, etc.), as well as many officers using it for fatigue duty. All saber belts for U.S. troops were black leather. Some Confederate troops had black leather belts, while others had them in russet leather.

Show as officer's plain version, with brass adjusting buckle on shoulder strap. The is also a fancy version with the brass adjusting buckle on shoulder strap and decorative stitching. Enlisted belts did not have a buckle on the shoulder strap.

This REPRODUCTION Leather item is Made in the USA. This a quality reproduction item made as close as is modernly possible. Sewing is done by machine to keep costs down (except where hand sewing is required). The leather is oiled, except for the White Buff Leather and the Enameled Leather, (usually Neatsfoot Oil) to protect it, but is usually soaked in by the time you receive it (we do not use Neatsfoot Oil Compound as it can damage stitching).

Black Enameled Leather

This is the Officer's dress sabre belt from pre-Civil War. It was still being worn by some officers well into the American Civil War. It is made from black enameled leather, currently called patent leather. It includes 2 saber hangers and the shoulder strap which can all be removed; so that the belt can be worn as a dress waist belt. The hook to hold the saber up is attached to the front saber hanger, wo that it is removed when the sabre hangers are removed. The buckle for this belt is the standard officers rectangular buckle that has been gold washed or gold plated, currently we do not offer the plated or washed buckles.

Shown with the Officer's belt buckle with nickel wreath. The shoulder strap is not shown. The shoulder strap was usually not used, even when the belt was used with the sabre, but we include it for those times it is wanted / needed.

Regulation General Officers Sabre Belt with 2-Rows of Gold Embroidery on Black Leather

This is the Officer's dress saber belt from the American Civil War. It is Gold Embroidery on Black Leather. There were Regulation and Non-Regulation versions of this belt. It includes 2 saber hangers, but NO shoulder strap. The hook to hold the saber up is attached to the front saber hanger. The buckle for this belt is the standard officers buckle that has been gold washed or gold plated. It can be either the retangular buckle or the spoon & wreath buckle.

Shown with the Officer's Gold Wash belt buckle with nickel wreath, but the will vary.

2-Row Gold Embroidery Dress Sabre Belt: This is the Non-Regulation Saber Belt for Officers. Select U.S. or C.S. Buckle.

NOTE: The Confederacy had regulations for a similar belt, with the following changes. The C.S. regulations called for a belt with silk in the branch of service color under the braid and the rows of braid to show the grade of the officer (i.e.: junior officer (1 row), company grade officer (2 rows), senior officer (3 rows) or general officer (4 rows). We do not currently offer the Confederate regulation belt, but you could wear the U.S. version as Non-Regulation C.S..

This is the standard cavalry, artillery and officers holster. The primary holster is worn on the right side, with the pistol butt facing forward. If a SECOND holster is used, then it is worn on the left side, also with the pistol butt facing forward.

The .36/.44 holsters will work with any Colt medium or small frame, or Remington 1858 in .44 or .36 cal. The Walker/Dragoon model holsters fit the Colt Walker and Dragoon pistols. The LeMatt model fits the LeMatt pistol. The Walker/Dragoon and LeMatt models are made on order, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.

US M1860 Regulation Holster: Made with full flap. Right side, butt forward, with sewn in toe plug. This holster was used into the Early Indian Wars.

US Non Regulation Holster: Same holster as above, except left side, butt forward.

CS Model Holster, Right Side: Full flap holster that come either US style Plug Bottom or Sewn Bottom. Closing tab and flap are one piece. Right side, butt forward.

Saddler Made Pommel Holster: This style is made with two regular hip holsters with a strap sewn between the holsters to fit over pommel of the saddle. Buckle straps near bottom of holsters to attach to breast strap. These holsters fit 1858 Remington, Colt 1860 Army, and Colt 1851 Navy pistols. If we are out-of-stock on these the will be made on order, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery in that case (call if you want us to check out stock).

Officers Pommel Holsters: Officer's Model Double Holster with (or without) Brass Caps. Made from a pattern in the Smithsonian Institute. These holsters can be made to fit 1849 Walkers; 1st, 2nd and 3rd model Colts, Dragoons and 1860 Army. The holsters have brass bottom caps, a cartridge pouch under each flap and are made to fit over the pommel of your saddle. They come complete with straps to secure them to the breast strap, and will last for many years. State type of pistol used in the comments field when you check out. This is the model 1874 Standing Loop Waist Belt. It can also be used as a waist belt without the two saber hanger slides and straps or as a saber belt with the two saber hanger slides and straps. Slides or Saber Hangers are now available. This can be orderred with the standard "US in Oval Retangular Buckle" (as shown) as used by both officers and enlisted or with an "Officers Eagle Retangular Buckle" (not shown).

We also offer a belt kit for leatherworkers (NOT INCLUDING Slides and Hangers). It contains the Buckle, Adjusting Hook and 2 Brass Rivets. You supply the leather.

Mills 45/70 Cartridge Belt, Indian Wars

This is the tan canvas Mills cartridge belt of the Indian Wars (L21). It holds 50 - 45/70 cartridges. The buckle is a stamped brass U.S. Mills buckle. The belt loops on our reproduction are sewn on, not woven into belt as the originals were. These belts are " One Size Fits All", They have a maximum waist size of 50" to possibly 54" (over 50" will require sewing the ends to keep them from coming loose). For waist under 34" you will need to remove some loops. The total length of the belt is about 57 to 58".

This belt is also offered as a complete belt with 1 - "C" Clasp for a buckle, 2 Flat C's and the brass end caps with C's (L21A). If you want the Mills Buckle with this version, you will need to order it seperatley as it DOES NOT come with this version. This belt will fit up to a MAXIMUM waist size of 42" or possibly 43" (the maximum usable length of the belt is 45" to 46"). Total length of the belt is about 50". This is the same belt as the 30/40 Krag belt, except for having the 45/70 belt loops.

Prairie Belt, Tan Webbing with Black Leather and Brass Buckle

This is the same belt as the Mills Cartridge Belt, except with the black leather and brass buckle as shown. It holds 45/70 (or 45/90 or other similar 45 caliber) cartridges. The belt loops on our reproduction are sewn on, not woven into belt as the originals were. There are 36 to 40 loops on the belt, depending on the size of the belt. The buckle attaches to the outside of the loop, not on the bar that the tongue attaches to.

This same belt is also available with 12 gauge shotgun loops (about 25 loops).

The Black Leather version is the U.S. Military version, although civilians may have also used it. This belt could be used for the M1897 Winchester Shotgun (aka: Model 97, M97 or Trench Gun).

The Natural/Russet Leather version is Civilian Use ONLY and is available with canvas webbing loops sewn on in 45 caliber Rifle (45/70, 45/90, etc.) or 50 caliber rifle (50/70, 50/90, 50/110, etc.) or 12 gauge shotgun, see also the Buffalo Hunter Belt).

Black leather with US in oval embossed on the flap. Flap closure has brass plate and button. Lambs wool lined. There are two belt loops on the back, arsenal marked, regulation size. It appears that some troopers used an extra Dyer Pouch for pistol cartridges.

This is the Indian Wars pistol cartridge pouch for the M1873 Colt. It is nearly identical to the American Civil War Cap Box, except with US in oval embossed on the flap and no sheep's wool lining. Made of Black leather with two belt loops on the back. The originally had a wood block to hold the cartridges, but most troopers took them out so the cartridge box would hold a few more cartridges. With the wooden block it holds 6 cartridges, without the wooden block it holds about 10 cartridges.

The maker I used for these died and I am looking for a new maker. In the mean time I am out of the one without the wood block. I do have some left with the wook block. You can remove the wood block if you want,just like theydid originally.

This REPRODUCTION Leather item is Made in the USA. This a quality reproduction item made as close as is modernly possible. Sewing is done by machine to keep costs down (except where hand sewing is required). The leather is oiled, except for the White Buff Leather and the Enameled Leather, (usually Neatsfoot Oil) to protect it, but is usually soaked in by the time you receive it (we do not use Neatsfoot Oil Compound as it can damage stitching).

Our Russet Leather Oak Tanned Leather. It is not dyed, it is the natural color from the tanning process. Color will vary with lot. It will darken with age. If you want to speed up the process leave it outdoors in the sun on a hot day. Also the more you oil it the darker it will become. 1874 Cavalry Model - is made to fit the 1873 Single Action Army (SAA) Colt with a 7 1/2" barrel. US is embossed on the flap of the holster. Comes as either Right Side Butt Forward or Left Side Butt Forward. This holster has a swivel belt asttachment. This is basically a modification of the American Civil War holster. NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.

Mills Belt for the 45/70

This is the same belt as the tan canvas Mills cartridge belt of the Indian Wars, except in blue canvas (L20). It holds 50 - 45/70 cartridges. The buckle used on this belt is a stamped brass U.S. Mills buckle. The belt loops on our reproduction are sewn on, not woven into belt as the originals were. These belts are "One Size Fits All"., They have a maximum waist size of 50" to possibly 54" (over 50" will require sewing the ends to keep them from coming loose). For waist under 34" you will need to remove some loops. The total length of the belt is about 57 to 58". You can purchase the Belt Only, Belt with Buckle or Belt with Buckle and 2 "C" Clasps (as shown).

in 30/40 Krag

Mills Belt for the 30/40 Krag

This is the Mills cartridge belt of the Spanish American War for the 30/40 Krag. It has 50 Double Loops that hold 100 cartridges and comes in either Tan / Khaki (L55) or Blue (L54). It comes complete with 1 "C" clasp for a buckle and 2 flat loops to hold the ends. The belt loops on our reproduction are sewn on, not woven into belt as the originals were. These belts are "One Size Fits All". They have a maximum usable length of 46", which will fit up to about a 42" to 44" waist (depending on what you are wearing). For waist under 34" you may need to remove some loops. NOTE: If you want the Mills Buckle for this belt, it will need to be ordered separately, as it DOES NOT come with this belt.
