U.S. M1833 Enlisted Shell Jacket for Dragoons, Mexican War
    M1833 Dragoon & Mounted Rifles Shell Jacket: was used from 1833 through 1850 by Dragoons and 1846 through 1850 by Mounted Rifles, including during the Mexican War. Dragoons were the mounted service before 1846 when a new branch of service, the Mounted Rifles were authorized. Both branches were re-designated "Cavalry" in 1861. Mounted Rifles wore this same jacket until the uniform change in 1851. Dragoons receive the Eagle "D" buttons, Rifles receive the Eagle with plain shield.

    Our jacket is made using the dark blue 19 ounce field service wool and is cotton lined. The 3/8" yellow worsted lace is applied to the jacket in the appropriate places. Collar is 2-5/8" high. The entire front of the collar closes fully. The back features two bolsters to hold up the waist belt. Two waistline pockets and Shoulder Straps are faithfully copied to insure accuracy.

    Twelve small buttons on the front, two on the functional cuffs, two on each side of the collar and a single button on the shoulder straps. Buttons are supplied, but left loose for you to sew on.

    The Winter Uniform (Coat and Trousers) was authorized for use from October 1st through April 30th.

U.S. M1832 Foot Trousers, Winter

    M1832 Foot Trousers: The trousers used by enlisted US Army Foot soldiers during the Mexican War were the model adopted in 1833. Trousers for enlisted soldiers are Sky Blue wool with drop front design without pockets. Cord tie in the back for adjustment. Pewter buttons are sewn on in the double front button pattern for use with our #1907 suspenders.

    Trousers are left unhemmed so that you can finish them the length you want. Raw inseam length is 34 inches.

    The Winter Uniform (Coat and Trousers) was authorized for use from October 1st through April 30th.

    M1832 Mounted Trousers for Dragoons: Trousers for Dragoons are Sky Blue wool with an extra layer of wool on the inseam for riding. Drop front design without pockets. Cord tie in the back for adjustment. Pewter buttons are sewn on in the double front button pattern for use with our #1907 spenders.

    Privates and Corporals were to have one 3/4" yellow wool stripe. Sergeants were to have two 3/4" yellow stripes with a 1/4" window between them. These trousers were used by Dragoons until 1851.
